Looking Into the Future: The Collapse of Western Civilization, A Book Summary


The book is called The Collapse of Western Civilization and it relates events that happened before 2014 and puts them into the future and how people in the future deal with our problems and more devastating ones they face. This book is about a fictional future for our Earth and what climate change will do to it. They travel into the future to 2023 where over 500,000 people die from fires, crop failure, death of livestock and pets. It was called the “perpetual summer”. It would cost the world over $500 million to pay for all of the destruction. In 2025 after a extravagant oil spill over 300 scientists were arrested because of “endangering the safety and well-being of the general public with unduly and alarming threats” (p.12)
